For a number of new drivers, the excitement of passing your driver's test is something to be remembered. After spending months taking nerve-racking lessons, with many bumps and nerve-racking detours along the way, a lot of young drivers will inevitably be thrilled to find out they've passed their test after all of the effort they put into it. Owning their very own vehicle is a huge accomplishment for young people. On the flip side of the coin, finding affordable car insurance is often a discouraging and costly affair. New drivers, quite literally, are often "taken for a ride" by these businesses on account of their higher risk factor -- some even refuse to offer insurance to drivers younger than 21 years of age.
Car insurance is expensive, especially for drivers under the age of 25. Although you may be a confident, careful, and courteous driver, you unfortunately belong to the group that statistically has the highest accident rate.
Car Choice - starting off in a vehicle with a smaller engine size could help convince insurance companies that they are indeed less of a risk even though it might not be the hot rod they expected.
Parking: the place where you park your car overnight may affect the price you pay for car insurance. Sounds weird, doesn’t it! However, the safety of your car is jeopardized when you leave it parked on the street where it can more easily be damaged or vandalized than if it were tucked away safely in a garage. Hence the higher premiums.
Additional Training-many novice drivers are deciding take a PassPlus course which would reduce their premiums when they are first driving.
Young drivers really need to reduce the risk of accidents and avoid cumbersome and costly insurance claims. There can be effective ways of doing this not only through necessary vehicle care but also through research and more training. Research may be conducted by making a survey and comparison of several car insurance policies if you want to get the cheapest and the best. Enhanced training can be acquired through the Passplus course, which teaches young drivers more advanced and special techniques such as driving at night and in different road and weather conditions.
